Effective Creative & Underrated Sets (DO NOT POST BAD GIMMICKS!!! THEY WILL BE DELETED)Standard sets are effective and all (hence why they're standard) but that doesn't mean we can't have fun with some underrated or some unconventional but effective sets! This thread is for new and creative movesets that can be quite effective, as well as old movesets that have fallen out of favor but have become quite effective in the FU metagame. An example of a creative and effective set:Krokorok @ Choice Scarf Ability: Moxie EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe Adamant nature - Earthquake - Knock Off - Pursuit - Stone Edge Why: Krokorok's choiced attacker sets are severely underrated and shouldn't be taken as lightly as they are. I'm not saying they're perfect, as Krokorok with adamant still cannot get important KOs without assistance (252+ Atk Krokorok Earthquake vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Simipour: 192-226 (65.7 - 77.3%) -- 50% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock and 2 layers of Spikes. Ouch) but after one moxie boost it's hard to stop, making Krokorok an underrated late game cleaner or wallbreaker/revenge killer. An example of an underrated set:
Butterfree @ Life Orb Ability: Tinted Lens EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Modest Nature - Bug Buzz - Quiver Dance - Giga Drain - Substitute set provided by Piers Niνаns
Why: Butterfree is usually an easy mon to stop as long as you have thunder wave on your team, so being able to substitute up when your opponent goes into their Butterfree counter is a great thing to have. Along with this, Butterfree outspeeds quite a bit after just 1 quiver dance, and after two is hard to stop. Getting at least one guaranteed quiver dance can change the tides of the battle completely.
What are some things that constitute a bad gimmick?- Using a Pokemon that has no business being used in FU, for the sake of using it in FU. - Movesets that are inferior and ineffective compared to existing movesets, or use an obscure move for the sake of hitting an even more obscure check or counter. - Movesets that are utterly impractacle or are horribly outclassed by another Pokemon. Pokemon such as Beautifly may seem cool, but there is no reason to use it over Butterfree. Have fun posting sets!

I don't know about you guys, but I really miss sun teams ever since the Heat Rock ban. Well, unlike most people who just used rain or cried about it, I have been working hard at the lab trying to come up with some way to use sun again, then it hit me. "Why don't I just make a Semi-Weather team like I did before with rain?" (A different tier a different story, I won't go into details). Yes, as long as I can find a decent setter then this plan is foolproof! And finally, after many nights searching and searching for the right mon, I finally leave the lab to give you this set that will probably be Bellossom's only niche from now on:
Sunnybeam Bellossom
Bellossom @ Meadow Plate Ability: Chlorophyll EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Modest Nature IVs: 0 Atk / 30 SpA / 30 Spe - Solar Beam - Hidden Power [Fire] / Moonblast - Sleep Powder / Synthesis / Moonblast - Sunny Day
Bellossom has caught my eye recently, and I thought it was about time that I finally talk about it a little. Bellossom has good bulk, good special attack, but that's really it. Its movepool sucks, its speed sucks, and it has a decent attack stat for god knows why (Leaf Blade Samurai Bellossom?). However, it has a great ability in Chlorophyll, which basically pulls this mon together since it then has the ability to boost its speed and give it access to a powerful 120 base power grass move with no drawbacks, and now reliable coverage in HP Fire. Additionally, it has sleep powder to put mons to sleep, or synthesis to heal allowing it to stay on the field longer. If your team lacks answers to dragons, specifically Zweilous, Moonblast is an option as it is decent coverage option with its wonderful base 95 damage. The main reason to use this set, however, is not because of Bellossom, no sir. The main appeal is the support sunny day can now give your team. Mons like Simisear (until it's banned), Magmar, Gigalith, Hippopotas, and really any mon with a weakness to water or coverage in fire (hell, run scarf vanilluxe with weather ball freeze dry for near perfect coverage on everything but steels). Of course, this means your water mons will be weakened, and grass types without chloro/ice types are put in a bad spot, too. Even considering that, Semi-Sunny teams aren't unviable and with Bellossom being the backbone of the operation.
Pros to running Sunnybeam Bellossom summed up: A decently fast and powerful grass type with the ability to support fires, rocks, and grounds due to the nerf in water damage
Cons: Weakens water moves, and causes fire moves to become stronger (problematic for Fire types, and Ice types)
Major specific counters to this set:
Magmar
Magmar may be one of Bellossom's greatest partners, but it's also its greatest Enemy. Vital Spirit makes it immune to Bellossom's sleep powder, and Magmar resists all of its coverage options.
Hippopotas
A ground type that gives trouble to a grass type? Impossible! Bellossom is threatened a lot by hippo if it has sand stream as solar beam is not only a chargeup move, and only has 60 base damage, making this mon very challenging.

BITE PERSIAN
Ah good old Bite, that one random move that normally you'd be replacing in a heartbeat on any other Pokemon due to its rather weak sixty base power, Persian is not one such Pokemon. In place of Knock Off, Bite is a gruesome option on physically offensive Persian as while it doesn't have Knock Off's ability to remove held items, it is instead stronger (after the first hit it is ~30 BP stronger due to Technician boost) and has a whooping thirty percent chance to flinch. To put that into perspective, that's the same chance Scald has to burn, which is nothing to play around with. This means Persian becomes quite deadly to Ghosts and Normal Resists such as Gourgeist-Large or Frillish, as it has the possibility to wear them down with flinches. Relevant Calcs: First Hit and Second hit comparisons of Knock Off and Bite: First Hit versus Max Def Colbur Berry Gourgeist-Large:
252 Atk Life Orb Persian Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Colbur Berry Gourgeist-Large: 58-69 (16.3 - 19.4%) -- possible 6HKO 252 Atk Life Orb Technician Persian Bite vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Colbur Berry Gourgeist-Large: 53-64 (14.9 - 18%) -- possible 6HKO
Second Hit versus Max Def Colbur Berry Gourgeist-Large: 252 Atk Life Orb Persian Knock Off vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Gourgeist-Large: 78-94 (22 - 26.5%) -- 9.1% chance to 4HKO 252 Atk Life Orb Technician Persian Bite vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Gourgeist-Large: 107-127 (30.2 - 35.8%) -- 41.8% chance to 3HKO
First Hit versus 248 HP 220 Def Bold Frillish: 252 Atk Life Orb Persian Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 248 HP / 220+ Def Eviolite Frillish: 138-164 (44 - 52.3%) -- 13.3% chance to 2HKO 252 Atk Life Orb Technician Persian Bite vs. 248 HP / 220+ Def Eviolite Frillish: 130-153 (41.5 - 48.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
Second Hit versus 248 HP 220 Def Bold Frillish: 252 Atk Life Orb Persian Knock Off vs. 248 HP / 220+ Def Frillish: 140-166 (44.7 - 53%) -- 24.6% chance to 2HKO 252 Atk Life Orb Technician Persian Bite vs. 248 HP / 220+ Def Eviolite Frillish: 130-153 (41.5 - 48.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
(Notice with Frillish while it does do a tad bit less with Bite, it can't guaranteed Recover or Will-O-Wisp due to the flinch chance.) (Quick Note I'll also be continually updating this post with more relevant calcs, just typed this up real quick to get it out there.)
Shout outs to marogod for bringing this up in groupchat!

Underrated Sets CM Golduck
Golduck @ Leftovers Ability: Swift Swim EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Modest or Timid Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Calm Mind - Scald - Ice Beam - Substitute/Focus Blast Golduck is arguably the tier's most dangerous rain abuser, but it also has some other interesting options. The main one I want to talk about is Calm Mind Substitute. Golduck has the right mix of offenses (95 SpA and 85 Spe) and bulk (80/78/80) to pull of the set well. It can find numerous set up opportunities during the course of a match such as forcing switches, against Magmar, non-Haze Wartorlte, Klang etc...Because of its offensive pressure and ability to abuse passive pokemon or take a hit click CM then dish out a boosted attack. Moveset and EVs are fairly straightforward opting for power via Modest and passive recovery in Lefties. Another option is going Timid Life Orb and Focus Blast>Substitute which can break better (hits Licky and Sp Def Zwei harder). 0 SpA Magmar Hidden Power Grass vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Golduck: 104-124 (34.5 - 41.1%) -- 65.3% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery ---> after 1 CM it takes 23.2 - 27.9% 0 Atk Klang Gear Grind (2 hits) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Golduck: 54-66 (17.9 - 21.9%) -- possible 6HKO after Leftovers recovery +1 252+ SpA Golduck Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Gourgeist-Large: 330-390 (93.2 - 110.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock +1 252+ SpA Golduck Focus Blast vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Lickilicky: 260-306 (61.4 - 72.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery Sash LeadKrokorok @ Focus Sash Ability: Intimidate EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Jolly Nature - Taunt - Stealth Rock - Earthquake - Knock Off This set is best used as a Suicide Lead on HO because of attributes Krok brings (Taunt+Rocks, Knock Off, decent speed/attack). Nearly everyone expects Eviolite so it can catch players by surprise. For example a common occurrence is to straight up die from any SE special attack from the likes of Simis, Ebuzz, or Magmar, but you tank the hit and dent them back. Just really great at applying pressure on the opp from turn 1. Effective Creative Scarf Modest Frogadier Frogadier @ Choice Scarf Ability: Protean EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Modest Nature IVs: 1 Atk / 30 SpA / 30 SpD - Hydro Pump - Ice Beam - Hidden Power [Ground] - Dark Pulse
The idea popped into my head that Scarf HP Ground Frogadier could lure Electric-types, namely Electabuzz, and provide a 2hko with a bit of chip (i.e SR). Frogadier has that cool ability of STAB everything because Protein so slapping on a Scarf allows it to revenge kill things it normally can't (basically anything faster that base 97). Moveset and EVs are simple, 4 best STABS (DPulse the Duosion counter lol) and Modest for that power, as opposed to Timid 'cause it'd get stupid weak imo. Reaches 439 with Scarf.
252+ SpA Protean Frogadier Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Pidgeot: 320-378 (104.2 - 123.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO 252+ SpA Frogadier Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Lopunny: 151-178 (55.7 - 65.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and burn damage 252+ SpA Protean Frogadier Hidden Power Ground vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Eviolite Electabuzz: 122-146 (44.8 - 53.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
Offensive Lum Gourg-L Gourgeist-Large @ Lum Berry Ability: Frisk EVs: 132 HP / 252 Atk / 124 Spe Adamant Nature - Seed Bomb - Shadow Sneak - Rock Slide - Explosion
Likely the best spin blocker in the tier. Instead of using the usual defensive set, I decided that utilizing Gourg-L to not be a momentum suck is fantastic for offense because of its decent power and defensive uses. Lum 'cause screw Scald burns, speed for 204 Huntail and rest in Attack/HP. Moves are the best it has access to imo. Shadow Sneak for chip and priority, Seed Bomb for strong STAB, Rock Slide hits incoming Fire-, Flying-, and Ice-types, and finally Explosion to dent things and get momentum. Overall it provides good bulk and utility to offense whilst keeping up momentum.
252+ Atk Gourgeist-Large Shadow Sneak vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Meowstic: 146-174 (50.5 - 60.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock 252+ Atk Gourgeist-Large Explosion vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Eviolite Servine: 204-240 (78.1 - 91.9%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock 252+ Atk Gourgeist-Large Seed Bomb vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Wartortle: 132-156 (41.1 - 48.5%) -- 62.5% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock 252+ Atk Gourgeist-Large Rock Slide vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Noctowl: 248-292 (61.5 - 72.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Personally I'm not too much of a fan of Bite Persian, although I can see the appeal. The ability to Knock Off Eviolite on something like Lairon or Frillish in my opinion is a lot more useful than having a stronger hit the second time around, especially when the tier is plagued with a ton of NFEs and lots of them are used to check Persian. It just makes Persian a lot more useful IMO because it gives it the ability to punish common switch-ins instead of just brainlessly spamming U-turn, because while Lairon can easily switch into Persian, sometimes getting rid of its Eviolite too early on in the match can be detrimental, which is why I find Knock Off almost the superior option in most cases. Same can be said for Lefties on Gourgeist or Gigalith.

Time for me to introduce an underrated set: Bulky Staravia Staravia @ Eviolite Ability: Intimidate EVs: 248 HP / 204 Def / 56 Spe Impish Nature - Feather Dance - Roost - Brave Bird - Defog Staravia might appear to not have the best bulk at first, but intimidate plus feather dance makes it have more physical bulk than you might think. It counters/checks a lot of physical attackers and provide defog support. It has great speed for a defensive poke, allowing it to outspeeds a lot of defensive pokes. The speed investment is for max speed pignite, because brave bird ohkos non-Evio max speed pignite. It does have weaknesses, but bulkravia is clearly an underrated set, and I wish you luck in using it
